Home for Elders: Personal Care Services — Permanent and Short Stay Facility

There are two different perceptions — caring elders; BETWEEN treating them with responsibility AND caring them with our ultimate compassion — Geeta Rathod says.

As aging progresses, each senior faces their unique problems. While some suffer from geriatric problems, other kinds — don’t wish to give burden to their children, others get stressed about having to adjust in a new environment, and also with the fellow residents and care takers who come from different backgrounds. Their constant stress and worry that the elders face cannot be overlooked. A traditional old age home is a residence where elders get nursing and care in a clinical facility there are many reasons why old age homes are not desirable by elders. The most prominent thing is the thought that at an old age home, there is nobody like their children who would understand them and care for their unique needs. They fear to be left alone at the mercy of the home’s administration who may or may not consider to meet their individual needs.

After carrying the responsibilities of bringing up children, managing household chores, looking after grandchildren, supervising maids and household help, elders have had much during their life-time and need to rest in the proceeding years for a secure and peaceful life. They need to slow down and enjoy the rest of the year. In such cases they must stay in assisted living residences — where the kindness and caring available to them. Often people settle abroad and their parents and grandparents reside in India. It is not always possible for elderly parents to travel and re-settle in another country where they are bound to face language barriers and cultural differences. NRI children often get into the dilemma between leaving their parents unattended in India and their bright future prospects in other countries
